Wise closed our small business' account on a payday, with all assets frozen. We were repeatedly being asked for same documents over and over. Provided all documents, proofs, bank statements etc. Then, few days ago - sudden closure of account with all funds frozen. On a payday. UPDATE>> after several calls, emails, chats and formal complaint, account was temporarily unblocked (not cleared yet though).

Wise account blocked for proof of funds. Support is stuck in a loop, asking for the same documents every day. Any advice? Hi everyone, I’m in an absurd situation with Wise's source of wealth checks and I need advice from anyone who might have dealt with this before. My account has been restricted, and to unblock it, I provided very clear and legal documents proving the origin of the funds: An official will/testament Bank statements The related receipts The issue is with their customer support. Every day they give me a different version of the story and keep asking for the exact same documents I have already uploaded, without ever approving them or giving a real reason for the rejection. It’s an endless loop and it feels like I’m only dealing with automated, copy-paste responses. Has anyone experienced this kind of block? 1. Is there a specific way or channel to escalate this to a higher department so a competent human can review the documents? 2. Does it make sense to immediately file a complaint with a financial ombudsman to force them to respond? Thanks for any help.
Wise closing my account after 4 years - appeal rejected Freelancer, used Wise for 4 years. Client payments in, normal spending out (online + in-store, several countries) Last week: banner saying the account is restricted and will close on Sept 22. Card dead, can't send or receive. No warning, no reason given. Appealed, rejected — still no explanation. As far as I can tell there's nothing to be done here. Any bank or fintech can freeze your account overnight, with no clear reason. Who else has been through this? And…
Wise permanently closed my account and is holding around €1,000 with no clear refund timeline I had approximately €1,000 in Wise, but most of it was held in Jars/separate balances rather than my main balance. After closing my account, Wise sent me statements showing only €1.24, which appears to be the balance of my main account. I no longer have access to the app, so I cannot even independently verify the exact amount held across all my Jars.
Wise account restricted after adding money from my own bank account My Wise account was restricted shortly after I added money from my own BBVA account. The account is 2 years old, and I have used the same bank account many times before without any issues. Wise only gave me one appeal form and no explanation. This is very frustrating. Has anyone experienced something similar?
How likely can I get my Wise account back? I had a Wise account, and I used it to receive my weekly salary from 2023 to 2026. I resigned and stopped receiving any money on it. Three months after my resignation, Wise closed my account because there had been no activity on it. Here, where I live, it is no longer possible to create an account that allows you to receive money. My question is: **how likely is it that I could get my Wise account back?** I don’t need it right now, but I would just like to know if it would still be possible to reopen it in the future.
Terrible experience for a simple dispute, many red flags I write this post to advise people to be careful with Wise, since they lack the basic customer support a bank should provide to its customers. I am Wise client since long time and used it for many transactions live and online during the years. Today I opened a dispute for a payment I made on the 1st of August to a well known online seller. I've never received any confirmation email from the vendor who just disappeared after receiving…
Wise closed my main account and I don’t understand why I’m a Malaysian user, and I’ve been using Wise mainly to transfer money internationally, including sending money to Mexico, Brazil, US, Hong Kong. Most of my transfers were for legitimate purchases of physical collectible toys. I wasn’t using Wise for illegal products, illegal services, or crypto anything like that. Recently, Wise decided to close my main account, saying that my activity was against their Customer Agreement. I wasn’t given a clear explanation of what specific transaction or activity caused the closure. I rely on Wise when I travel internationally, so losing my account is a pretty big problem for me. I also have another separate Wise account/situation involving Brazil where they requested Brazilian tax documents, I am not even from BRAZIL ! But that’s a separate issue from the account that was closed. I’m trying to understand what I can do now. Has anyone here had their Wise account closed despite using it for legitimate international purchases/transfers? Were you able to appeal the decision or get the account reinstated? I’m honestly pretty frustrated because I don’t know what exactly I did wrong or how I’m supposed to resolve this.
Wise account closed after appeal - is this truly FOREVER? I did search for this info in the community before asking here... We leave for full-time international travel/living in 4 months. In preparation, I opened a Wise account today. I provided all the required documents etc. I almost immediately received notice that I was restricted and scheduled for account closure. I was given the option to appeal. I did by supplying our electricity bill. My appeal was denied immediately. I reached out to customer service. \"They\" would not explain why my appeal was denied and stated the decision was final. Is this for real? Has anyone had this happen? Customer service also said I could never open an account in the future. We own a home for which I supplied the bill and a bank statement. I'm genuinely shocked and confused. (Also a bit bemused.) Follow up: what is my next best option to Wise for similar services? In your opinion, will my spouse have the same issue with Wise if he tries to open an account? Email from them: |We’ve decided to keep your account closed. We checked the info that you sent us and we won’t be able to reopen your account. We’re unable to share the specific reason why we’re closing your account. As a regulated financial institution, there's limited information we can share when we close an account. But we can choose to close an account if we think: It’s a duplicate of another (you can only have one account with us, unless we agree otherwise) Its security has been compromised There are transactions on your account that we can’t complete These are just examples, though. Wise closed with USD $40k balance, and not releasing the funds Suddenly, on July 9, I got an email that my account was closed. Upon appealing, it said the account will remain closed, and the decision was final. On 16th July, they emailed that the refund would be done in 2-5 days, and to date there is no refund. EDIT- Wise has refunded my money today. Big Thanks to everyone who tried to help, gave support, and ideas :)
WISE ACCOUNT BLOCKED + BANK DETAILS In a short story i tell you what happened to me. after many years my account got restricted and after appeal over appeal my account got closed. Ok, it’s fine. But! What is weird if anyone try to send money to my bank account THROUGH WISE (not wise account but my personal bank details) appears a message where it says. There is a problem you cannot send money to this details. So wise not only locked my account but also…
Fintech risk is real, Wise closed my account Hey everyone, I run an online business on Amazon, and I’ve been using Wise for 8 years to manage my payments. Recently, my Wise account got suddenly closed without clear explanation, which has been really stressful since it’s my main business account with a large balance. I’ve been reading that similar things happen with other fintechs like Mercury and Revolut too. For those running online businesses: How are you managing your money safely? Are you using multiple banks or switching to traditional banks? Any setups you recommend to avoid getting stuck like this? Would really appreciate hearing your experience.
