Stripe closed our account as "high risk" 0 disputes, 0 chargebacks, biggest order was €300. Anyone been through this? Not really sure where else to post this, so here goes. We run a small online shop selling trading card game stuff mostly Pokémon TCG, plus sleeves and accessories. Last week Stripe closed our account and the reason given was basically "your business is considered high risk." That was it. The thing that's driving me crazy is that nothing happened. We've never had a single dispute. Not one chargeback attempt. No fraud reports, no complaints, nothing weird on the account at all. We're not even doing serious volume our biggest order ever was around €300. So I genuinely don't know what we did to end up in that bucket. I've tried live chat several times. Either I get a reply that doesn't answer what I asked, or the ticket just gets closed. I'm not asking them to reverse it on the spot, I just want to know what actually flagged us and whether a review is even an option. So far I can't get anyone to tell me either way. So, questions for you all: Has anyone here actually gotten an account back after a high-risk closure? If yes, what did you do that worked? Is there a better way to escalate than live chat some email or form that gets to a human? And is this just how it goes for collectibles/TCG sellers, or did we get unlucky? If someone from Stripe happens to see this and can nudge me toward the right channel, I'd really appreciate it. Happy to share the account details privately with anyone who can actually look it up. Thanks any pointers help at this stage. Update: My account has been reinstated i have now processed 2 payments and everything seems okay. Update: My account got Payout restricted i needed to send a ID verify what i just did lets hope i can get my Payouts reanabled again **Update: My account was just shut down by Stripe for being deemed “high risk.”** …

Stripe closed our account with THB 661,975 in legitimate hotel accommodation payments on hold – has anyone in travel experienced this? I’m curious to hear from other merchants, particularly those working with hotel accommodation, travel or other businesses where individual card transactions can be relatively high. We are a legitimate registered Thai company and have been working with Stripe for years. Recently, three of our clients paid us through Stripe for genuine hotel accommodation bookings. The three transactions were: THB 143,843 THB 245,155 THB 272,977 **Total: THB 661,975** These are genuine clients and genuine hotel accommodation bookings. We have hotel reservations and confirmations, customer invoices and payment records, correspondence with the hotels, customer communications, pricing breakdowns and company documentation supporting every transaction. The clients successfully paid their cards and the transactions were processed by Stripe. Stripe then closed/restricted our account and the funds were not paid out to us. Stripe has now told us that the funds will be held **until December 8, 2026.** This is where the situation has become very difficult to understand. We cannot access the THB 661,975, but we also cannot refund the three transactions ourselves. We contacted Stripe repeatedly trying to understand how the clients could receive their money back. Stripe then instructed us that the clients should contact their own credit card issuers and request the funds back through them. The clients actually followed Stripe’s instructions and contacted their card companies. However, their card issuers are telling them that they cannot simply process a refund in this way and that the merchant/payment processor needs to deal with it. So we seem to be stuck in a loop: Stripe has the funds. We never received the funds. Stripe does not allow us to refund the transactions. Stripe t…

Stripe closed my 6 week old lodging business citing risky payments. The "risky payments" were declines its own risk system generated on my verified guests. Full dated timeline + what I'd do differently. **One lost $750 chargeback led to my payment processor closing my six week old lodging business's account, holding my guests' money past its own written deadline, and then telling me it couldn't release funds it had already refunded. Full timeline, and what I would do differently.** **TL;DR:** Six week old lodging business. One $750 deposit chargeback lost on an AVS mismatch. Four days later an automated risk intervention was added on top of the normal fraud screening. The normal screening had already caught the real fraud on its own. The intervention blocked only verified guests, one of them about fifteen times, and nothing else. Stripe refused in writing to override it, then closed the account citing high risk activity from those blocks. Pulled a service member's already paid out booking back from my bank, missed its own written refund deadline by six days, refunded the day after a BBB complaint, then sent a formal response saying it could not release funds it had already released. Same day it closed my direct application, it approved the same business through [Booking.com](http://Booking.com), and that account is still open. Never a human in the loop. Not on MATCH, which is the one thing that went right. Lessons at the bottom. Short version: turn on AVS decline, never charge deposits, keep two acquirers, and do not build a small business on a rail that can be revoked by a model and appealed to a queue. I am a Navy veteran and I own a small guest house in Tampa, Florida. Five rooms. I launched in mid June and take bookings through Airbnb, [Booking.com](http://Booking.com), Expedia, Vrbo, and directly. I used Stripe for the direct and Vrbo side. **July 17.** A guest who had stayed for five nights filed a chargeback on her $750 security deposit. I contested it with f…

Stripe closed my account after reviewing a $15k payment — ~$45k now held for 120 days. What are my options? Update 2: **The issue has been resolved by Stripe**, and my account is up and running again. I reached out through the Support Center, and Stripe followed up with a series of questions, which I answered honestly and provided the requested information for. I’m not sharing the specific questions here because I don’t want to give bad actors a roadmap for circumventing Stripe’s review process. However, there was nothing in the questions that a legitimate business should be afraid to answer. I appreciate Stripe taking another look at the case and ultimately resolving the issue. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Edit: I see threads where people suggesting asking clients to do chargebacks as Stripe won’t help. This is getting scarier. Update 1: Received response from Stripe Based on the information available to us, including documents submitted via your Dashboard to appeal our decision, we've determined that your account still presents an unacceptable level of risk. NO CHARGEBACKS, RETURN CLIENTS, PROOF OF DELIVERY, ARC accredited travel agency and still Stripe did this to my Business. Looking for a processor and thinking of Stripe? One word suggestion- RUN! ——————————————————————————— I’m looking for advice from people who have dealt with Stripe account closures and fund holds. I run a legitimate travel-related business and have been processing payments through Stripe. Recently, I processed a **$15,000 payment from a client**, which triggered a review. Stripe asked for information, so I provided an explanation along with **WhatsApp conversations with the client showing the nature of the transaction and our relationship**. The important part is that this wasn’t a random/new customer. This is a **long-term client whom I have dealt with…
